About the Fund
Kurera Fund was established in 2009 to meet the need for sponsorship of Rwandan secondary school students. In Rwanda, primary education (though 6th grade) is universally funded, secondary school is not. Students usually attend boarding school and the fees are the equivalent of $80 per trimester. Students who cannot pay are turned away or sent home during the trimester as their situation becomes known. Kurera Fund aims to match sponsors with students so that students can complete their secondary school education.
