School Facility in Nyanza
Kurera is a grass roots organization. In 2009 founding member Claire O'Connor was teaching at École Des Sciences, Nyanza. During her second trimester she was approached by tearful students as they were excluded from class for an inability to pay their fees. Completing their education is very important to these students. The mission of Kurera is to find sponsors for the students at École des Sciences and then expand Kurera to other schools in the area, and eventually countrywide.
Students are placed in the program following a rigorous screening process. To stay with Kurera, students must strive to be in the top 40% of their class.
